A partner in the firm’s Calgary office, Michael practices civil litigation.  Comfortable with and stimulated by the dispute resolution process – in all its extremes and urgency, yet acting with relentless precision and poise – Michael represents many clients through a wide spectrum of struggle and resolution: in mediation, arbitration, trial and appellate advocacy, and from the claims of individuals to commercial (particularly construction and insurance) matters and disputes, and on to the often constitutional worlds of cross-jurisdictional matters and major aboriginal litigation, including the pursuit of wrongful surrender and treaty land entitlement claims.

Michael is the author of 2009 Alberta Insurance Law and Commentary (LexisNexis/Butterworths), has published in learned journals, including the Alberta Law Review, and has taught at the Alberta Bar Admission Course.  He has assisted teaching the Business Law Course at the University of Calgary and also presents at many professional education seminars for the Legal Education Society of Alberta and the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers’ Association, as well as industry sponsored seminars for the construction and insurance industries.

Involvement in the community and athletic organizations has been important to Michael.

He swims regularly and enjoys hiking, biking and riding motorcycles.
