Lee Francoeur is a Taku River Tlingit First Nation lawyer that works primarily with First Nations in the areas of Aboriginal and Treaty law, Natural Resources and the Environment, and Human Rights.  Lee finished law school at the University of Calgary in 1997, and moved back to his hometown of Whitehorse, Yukon where he completed his articles in 1998.  In 1998, Lee opened an office in Whitehorse until he relocated to West Vancouver in 1999.  Lee worked with First Nations in the Yukon and British Columbia and many of Lee's files deal with Resource Development and the Environment.  Lee is very proud of his work on environmentally responsible economic development.
 

In addition to working with First Nations, Lee has also worked extensively in the area of Human Rights.  In 1998, Lee was appointed as the Chair of the Yukon Human Rights Tribunal as a part-time member.  In 2002, Lee took a temporary appointment to the BC Human Rights Tribunal as a full-time member.
 

In 2003, Lee moved back to Calgary, Alberta and subsequently joined Maurice Law in 2007.  Lee continues to work with primarily First Nation clients from all across Canada on various issues related to Treaty and Aboriginal Rights including:

·        Specific and Comprehensive Claims

·        Water Rights

·        Wrongful Takings

·        Environmental issues

·        Mining.

 

Maurice Law also acts as general legal counsel for the administration of many First Nation Governments.
